I remember the good old days when you drafted hockey players and maybe 1 or 2 made the team years later. Now they pick up generational talents every season and sure fire players with every pick. |

Soooo you are aware that Lafreniere is not a 2019 prospect right? So having a 2019 1st round pick does not influence you being able to get him at all? Sometimes I wonder if you pay attention to hockey at all Garth. |

The sad part was him thinking lafreniere was just a top 15 pick, when he is more likely to go 1st overall in 2020. Thought I would try reading this guys blogs, found out it was a terrible idea. |

Agreed. I don’t even know why I read his stuff. He just writes randomly without any research. Maybe he should find a new job, he is the worst hockey writer in history. |

Even so 2019 is loaded with top end prospects. Which is the point he is trying to make. Sabres have 3 picks in a very very loaded first. |

Garth isn't really a hockey writer. He is a buffalo fan writing about the sabres. That is why his stuff is over the top and times and is riddled with incorrect facts. Though it would be nice sometimes if he would take the time to do some actual research on what he is going to write about. |

Garth is a “writer”. I believe he even has press clearance. |

We do have a decent amount of Murrancy. Hopefully Botterill is able to get his man at a fair market rate. |

Again, with the “premium asset” talk. The draft picks are important, I’ll give you that, but Army’s track record over the last ten seasons proves he’ll get them back from someone else. Calling the other three players in the ROR trade “premium assets” is a huge stretch though. Buffalo got the Blues’ dumpster fire of a third line featuring an overpriced pillow top mattress, a drama queen, and their 6th best prospect who would be a 4th-liner in two years time unless traded. |

Little known NHL rule. If your team's GM is a shrewd businessman and you have 3 first round picks in a given year you can draft anyone you want regardless of age, including players picked in previous years and already signed to other teams. Buffalo is going to use this to their advantage. |

Berglund is a versatile forward who can play 3rd line centre or 2nd line wing. Not a bad pickup.
Also Thompson was their 4th best prospect. He’s been shuffled around the St. Louis lineup a lot. He can very well be a pretty decent top 6 PF. Saying Thompson is a fourth liner is laughable at this point.
Also just because he’s their fourth best prospect it doesn’t mean he’s bad. The 3 prospects ahead of him are pretty darn good.
Forgot to mention that we got another 1st in the deepest draft since the McDavid draft. |

Sobotka sucks since his return from the KHL and Berglund was nothing more than a salary dump. The draft picks will be nice and I believe Tage was misused in St. Louis, but you actually did the Blues a favor by taking the other 2. |
